.:. The valley of the dukes 2 (variant) - Guise
This route along the valley of the Oise is a foretaste of the splendours of the Thiérache. Leaving from Guise, the home town of Camille Desmoulins (1760-1794) and Jean-Baptiste-André Godin (1817-1888), you first explore the history of local inland waterways and shipping as you walk along the picturesque tow paths and skirt the canal locks. The second day is more of a country walk, with farms and the imposing outlines of fortified churches standing tall above the hedge trimmed meadows and the copses shading the valley.
