Ch'est l'Omignon qui fait la verte vallée : vallée d'étangs, vallée de bois, villages de verdure, villages de haies, disait en picard ce conteur du Vermandois. Parmi ces villages, Vermand présente de nombreux vestiges, dont le plus émouvant est ce vase "aux oiseaux" conservé au musée ethnologique.
